The Maryland State Funeral Directors Association was founded in 1919 and has become the leading association in the state committed to providing the most optimal resources, tools and support for its members to promote unparalleled funeral service to the public.
Recognizing critical issues within funeral service and providing appropriate solutions to those issues, and addressing external and internal audiences in all matters pertinent to the funeral profession; being the preeminent funeral service advocate before governmental agencies, consumer groups, and suppliers; providing educational opportunities that will enhance professionalism in its membership; and serving as a professional and ethical information resource to which its members may rely upon for timely and relevant assistance.
Assist members in furthering their funeral service knowledge through continuing education; facilitate professional networking and relationships; respond to consumer questions regarding arranging and prearranging funerals, cremation/burial options; encourage and enable members to provide a dignified ethical service when loved ones have been entrusted in their care; and ensure the safety and protection of our communities by caring for the living and being the voice for positive legislative and public advocacy.
